Indian Navy Witnesses the Launch of LSAM 19, 5th Barge in ACTCM Barge Project

The launch of the 'Ammunition Cum Torpedo Cum Missile Barge, LSAM 19 (Yard 129),' the fifth barge in the 11-part ACTCM Barge Project, took place on January 24.

• Operational Milestone: The launch ceremony of LSAM 19 marked a significant milestone in the 11 x ACTCM Barge Project, reinforcing the commitment of M/s Suryadipta Projects Pvt Ltd to the Indian Navy.
• Presiding Officer: The launching ceremony was presided over by Cmde V Pravin, AWPS(Mbi), adding a distinguished touch to the event.
• Contractual Agreement: The contract for constructing these 11 Barges was formally established between the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and M/s Suryadipta Projects Pvt Ltd, Thane, on March 5, 2021.
• Operational Enhancements: The availability of these Barges is set to enhance the operational capabilities of the Indian Navy by streamlining the transportation, embarkation, and disembarkation processes for articles and ammunition, both at jetties and outer harbors.
• Indigenous Design: These Barges proudly adhere to indigenous design principles, constructed under the naval rules and regulations of the Indian Register of Shipping. Model testing during the design phase was conducted at the Naval Science and Technological Laboratory, Visakhapatnam.
• Make in India Initiative: Serving as proud flag bearers of the Make in India initiative by the Government of India, these Barges showcase the nation's capabilities in designing and building essential naval assets.
