On 1st June, 2025, India will carry out large-scale civil defence mock drills under ‘Operation Shield’ across key border states to assess emergency readiness amid rising security concerns.
Key Points
- Operation Shield: Simulated hostile scenarios including air raids, blackouts, and emergency responses will be conducted to test preparedness.
- Targeted Regions: Drills will take place in Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana, and Chandigarh, focusing on areas near the LoC and International Border.
- Objective: The aim is to improve inter-agency coordination, identify gaps, and boost public awareness in high-risk regions.
- Follow-Up to May 7 Drill: Insights from the nationwide exercise held earlier this month informed the design and scope of ‘Operation Shield’.
