On 30th May 2025, Government highlighted the leap in India’s AI capacity at the ‘IndiaAI – Make AI in India’ event, boosting compute power, data access, and indigenous AI innovation.

- GPU Expansion: India’s national compute strength now exceeds 34,000 GPUs, following the addition of 15,916 GPUs to support large-scale AI development.
- New AI Model Developers: Three startups—Soket AI, Gnani AI, and Gan AI—will develop India-specific multilingual foundational models under the IndiaAI Mission.
- Model Capabilities:
- Soket AI: 120B parameter open-source model for defense, education, healthcare.
- Gnani AI: 14B parameter voice AI model for real-time multilingual processing.
- Gan AI: 70B parameter model aiming for superhuman TTS capabilities.
- Open Data Push: 367 datasets now live on AI Kosh, India’s AI open-data repository.
- Startup Goals: Selected startups urged to aim for top-5 global rank in their domains.
- Public Use LLMs: Sarvam AI earlier chosen to build a 120B parameter LLM for Citizen Connect 2047 & AI4Pragati.
