Refunds for Students from Coaching Centres
- 25 Feb 2025
On 22nd February 2025, the Centre facilitated refunds amounting to Rs.1.56 crore for students from various coaching centres, providing financial relief to aspirants.
- The Department of Consumer Affairs successfully enabled these refunds for over 600 students who were previously denied their claims despite adhering to the institutes’ terms and conditions.
Key Points
- Grievance Redressal Mechanism: The refunds were processed through complaints filed via the National Consumer Helpline, ensuring a streamlined dispute resolution process.
- Compensation for Unfulfilled Services: The refunds covered issues such as late classes, cancelled courses, and other unfulfilled services, preventing students from bearing financial losses due to unfair business practices.
- Strict Regulatory Measures: The Department of Consumer Affairs has directed coaching centres to implement transparent refund policies, emphasizing that denying legitimate refund claims will not be tolerated.
