Eminent Filmmaker Shaji N Karun Passes Away

On 28th April 2025, Shaji N Karun, the pioneering Malayalam filmmaker and cinematographer, passed away in Thiruvananthapuram at the age of 73 after battling health issues.

Shaji N Karun was one of the most prominent figures in Malayalam cinema, known for his contributions to the new wave movement that revolutionized the industry.
His debut film Piravi (1988) garnered international recognition and was screened at nearly 70 international film festivals, marking the beginning of his global acclaim.
Throughout his career, Karun won numerous awards, including seven National Film Awards, showcasing his excellence in filmmaking and his immense contribution to Indian cinema.
