On 14th May 2025, the Government of India officially fixed 23rd September as the annual date for observing Ayurveda Day, replacing the earlier practice of aligning it with Dhanteras.

• The decision was announced through a Gazette notification issued by the Ministry of Ayush, marking a permanent change in the observance date.
• Previously, Ayurveda Day was celebrated on Dhanteras, a date which varies each year according to the lunar calendar.
• The new fixed date of 23rd September ensures consistency and resolves the logistical difficulties associated with planning large-scale national and global events.
