Panchayat Advancement Index 2.0 to Launch
- 27 May 2025
The Ministry of Panchayati Raj will unveil the upgraded Panchayat Advancement Index (PAI) 2.0 at a two-day National Workshop in New Delhi on May 26–27, 2025, aiming to enhance data-driven local governance.
- PAI 2.0 builds upon the original 2022–23 framework by reducing the number of indicators from 516 to 147, streamlining the process for better usability, outcome orientation, and reduced reporting burden for Gram Panchayats.
- The upgraded index aligns with nine Localized Sustainable Development Goals (LSDGs), namely poverty, health, education, water, environment, infrastructure, governance, social justice, and women's empowerment, to reflect grassroots developmental priorities.
- The launch will also see the release of the Local Indicator Framework (LIF) Booklet for FY 2023–24, along with the formal rollout of the PAI 2.0 digital portal and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure structured implementation.
- New features in PAI 2.0 include integration with national data portals for automatic updates, anomaly detection tools, intuitive mobile-friendly dashboards, and a Decision Support System (DSS) to identify development gaps and optimize resource allocation.
