PM Inaugurates Dahod Locomotive Plant

On 26th May 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Indian Railways’ state-of-the-art Locomotive Manufacturing Plant in Dahod, Gujarat, and flagged off its first electric locomotive.

Key Points

Boost to Freight Capacity: The Dahod facility will manufacture 9,000 HP electric locomotives, enhancing Indian Railways' freight performance and supporting exports.
Green Technology: Locomotives include regenerative braking systems that reduce energy use and promote sustainability.
Rs.24,000 Crore Projects: PM also launched and laid the foundation for development projects worth Rs. 24,000 crore, spanning key railway upgrades and Gujarat government initiatives.
New Train Services: Two new trains—Veraval–Ahmedabad Vande Bharat Express and Valsad–Dahod Express—were flagged off.
Vadodara Roadshow: PM held a vibrant roadshow in Vadodara, thanking citizens for their warm reception.
