India Post Launches ‘Gyan Post’ for Book Delivery
- 14 Jun 2025
On 13th June 2025, the Department of Posts has introduced a new postal service called ‘Gyan Post’ to facilitate the affordable and efficient delivery of educational and cultural books across India.
- ‘Gyan Post’ has been launched with the objective of promoting access to educational, cultural, religious, and social books in alignment with the goals of the National Education Policy (NEP).
- The service aims to reduce the educational divide by ensuring that printed learning material is accessible to people living in rural, remote, and underprivileged regions across the country.
- Operated through all India Post offices nationwide, the service offers reliable and economical rates starting at Rs. 20 for packages up to 300 grams and going up to Rs. 100 for packets weighing up to 5 kilograms, exclusive of taxes.
- The availability of this service across India’s extensive postal network ensures last-mile connectivity, particularly benefiting students and institutions in areas with limited access to online resources.
- In order to improve customer experience and build trust in the system, the service includes a tracking facility for all deliveries, enabling senders and recipients to monitor the movement of their parcels.
- The initiative supports the vision of the NEP by encouraging the dissemination of quality educational content in physical formats, especially where digital infrastructure is weak or unreliable.
