‘NAVYA’ Scheme

On 24th June, 2025, the Government of India launched the NAVYA scheme in Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh, to promote women-led development under the Viksit Bharat@2047 vision.
Key Points
- NAVYA Initiative: Jointly launched by the Ministry of Women and Child Development and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
- Target Group: Aims to empower girls aged 16–18 who have completed at least Class 10, especially in non-traditional and emerging job sectors.
- Pilot Launch: To be implemented across 27 districts in 19 states, focusing on aspirational and North-Eastern districts.
- Skill Training Integration: NAVYA will utilize platforms like PM Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) and PM Vishwakarma to deliver quality vocational training.
- Institutional Convergence: Both ministries will align their resources and policies for effective implementation and maximum outreach.
- Empowerment Goal: Beyond employability, the scheme seeks to boost the confidence and aspirations of adolescent girls, preparing them for leadership roles in India’s growth journey.
