Monsoon Safety Campaign
- 25 Jun 2025
On 24th June, 2025, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) began a 15-day nationwide inspection and preparedness campaign to mitigate waterlogging and flood risks across India's national highways during the monsoon season.
- NHAI officials, contractors, and consultants are inspecting monsoon-vulnerable highway stretches to pinpoint areas susceptible to waterlogging, landslides, and other seasonal hazards.
- Special attention is being paid to clearing and maintaining bridges, culverts, and other drainage infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted water flow and prevent traffic disruptions.
- Rainwater harvesting structures are being cleaned and desilted, and repairs are underway on damaged drains and outlets to enhance drainage efficiency in flood-prone zones.
- Simultaneously, pothole repairs are being carried out on both the main carriageways and adjoining slip roads to improve road conditions and reduce accident risks.
