US, South Korea, Japan Hold Joint Air Drill

On 11th July 2025, South Korea, Japan and the United States conducted a joint air drill over international waters involving a U.S. B-52H strategic bomber and fighter jets from the two allied nations, amid growing regional security concerns.

  • This marks the first deployment in 2025 of a U.S. B-52H strategic bomber to the Korean Peninsula, intended to demonstrate strong deterrence against North Korea’s advancing nuclear and missile capabilities.
  • The air drill was conducted over international waters, with the objective of reinforcing trilateral operational coordination and strengthening deterrence capabilities in the Indo-Pacific region.
  • The defence ministries of the United States, South Korea and Japan stressed that the joint exercise sends a clear message of unity and preparedness in response to ongoing security threats posed by North Korea.
