World Population Day Focuses on Family Planning

On 11th July 2025, World Population Day was observed globally to raise awareness about population-related issues and highlight the importance of healthy timing and spacing of pregnancies for the well-being of mothers and children.

  • World Population Day 2025 theme is “Empowering young people to create the families they want in a fair and hopeful world.”
  • The United Nations General Assembly, through a resolution in December 1990, officially established World Population Day to raise global awareness about the impact of population growth on development and the environment.
  • World Population Day was first observed on 11th July 1990 across more than 90 countries and it has since become an annual event focusing on population-related challenges and opportunities.
