On 24th July 2025, centre launched the National Cooperative Policy 2025, aimed at transforming the cooperative sector into a major pillar of India's inclusive and self-reliant economic growth.

- Model Cooperative Villages: Five model cooperative villages will be developed in every tehsil, with special focus on rural women, Dalits, tribals, and agriculture.
- New Sectors: Cooperative societies will expand into tourism, taxi services, insurance, green energy, and more.
- Target: Aims to triple the cooperative sector’s contribution to GDP and bring 50 crore active members by 2034.
- One Cooperative per Village: Seeks a 30% rise in cooperative societies and ensures one cooperative unit in every panchayat.
- Youth & Tech Focus: Promotes youth employment, digital transformation, and transparency through tech-driven management.
- Institutional Support: 83 intervention points identified; 58 already completed. Two expert committees will drive implementation.
- Education & Training: Tribhuvan Sahkari University launched to train cooperative professionals.
- Sahkar Taxi Scheme: To be launched by end of 2025, allowing drivers to retain full profit.
- White Revolution 2.0: Women-led dairy cooperatives to play a major role in rural development.
- Global Outreach: Formation of multi-state cooperative societies for exports, seeds, and organic product branding to expand international market reach.
