Former J&K Governor Satya Pal Malik Passes Away

On 5th August 2025, Satya Pal Malik, former Governor of Jammu and Kashmir and a prominent political figure, passed away at the age of 79. He also served as Governor of Bihar, Odisha, Goa, and Meghalaya during his long public career.

Malik began his political career in the 1960s, inspired by socialist leader Ram Manohar Lohia. Over the decades, he was associated with several political parties.
Transferred to Jammu & Kashmir in August 2018, where he oversaw the historic revocation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019.
Served as Governor of Goa (October 2019) and later Meghalaya (retired in October 2022).
Hailing from Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, with ancestral roots in Haryana, Malik was known for standing by his principles throughout his political life.
