Govt Launches AI Tool ‘SabhaSaar’ for Gram Sabhas
- 16 Aug 2025
On 14th August 2025, the Union Ministry of Panchayati Raj announced the launch of ‘SabhaSaar,’ an artificial intelligence-powered tool designed to automatically generate structured minutes of gram sabha meetings from video and audio recordings.
- The SabhaSaar tool leverages advanced AI and Natural Language Processing (NLP) technologies to transcribe spoken discussions, identify key decisions and action points, and produce well-formatted minutes of meetings.
- It is integrated with Bhashini, the Government of India’s National Language Translation Mission, enabling support for 13 Indian languages to ensure inclusivity and accessibility for Panchayat functionaries across the country.
- The Ministry has instructed all States and Union Territories to use SabhaSaar for generating minutes of Special Gram Sabhas scheduled on 15th August 2025.
- The use of SabhaSaar is expected to significantly reduce the workload of Panchayat officials, allowing them to devote more time to governance and service delivery instead of manually drafting meeting minutes.
- According to the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, there are 2,55,397 village panchayats, 6,742 intermediate panchayats, 665 district panchayats, and 16,189 traditional local bodies across India, all of which can potentially benefit from this tool.
