Tobacco Free Youth Campaign 3.0
- 09 Oct 2025
On 9th October 2025, the Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, launched the Tobacco Free Youth Campaign 3.0 (TFYC 3.0), a nationwide initiative aimed at creating a tobacco-free learning environment and safeguarding the health and well-being of students across India.
- The campaign reinforces the Government’s commitment to achieving a tobacco-free generation, addressing a major public health challenge that claims over 13 lakh lives annually in India and continues to affect youth at an alarmingly young age.
- According to the Global Youth Tobacco Survey (GYTS-2019), 8.4% of students aged 13–15 years currently use tobacco products, with the average initiation age being 10 years, highlighting the urgent need for preventive interventions targeted at young learners.
- TFYC 3.0 is a 60-day national campaign designed to educate and empower children and youth to prevent tobacco initiation, support students who wish to quit, and promote a culture of health, wellness, and substance-free education across schools, colleges, and vocational training institutions.
