IAF Joins Exercise Ocean Sky 2025

On 20th October 2025, the Indian Air Force (IAF) began participating in Exercise Ocean Sky 2025, a multinational air combat exercise hosted by the Spanish Air Force at Gando Air Base, Spain, aimed at enhancing defence cooperation and operational capabilities.

The exercise, running from October 20 to 31, 2025, is designed to foster mutual learning, improve interoperability among participating air forces, sharpen air combat skills, and strengthen defence ties with friendly nations.
This multinational exercise comes a few months after the IAF enhanced its operational strength with the induction of 16 Airbus C-295 military transport aircraft, marking a significant upgrade in tactical airlift capability.
The Airbus C-295 is a highly versatile tactical transport aircraft capable of performing multiple missions, including troop and cargo transport, maritime patrol, airborne surveillance, reconnaissance, signals intelligence, armed close air support, medical evacuation, VIP transport, and firefighting.
