DAC Approves ₹79,000 Crore Defence Acquisition Proposals

On 23rd October 2025, the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Defence Minister, approved capital acquisition proposals worth around ₹79,000 crore to strengthen the operational capabilities of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force.

- Approval Overview: The DAC’s approvals cover a wide range of platforms and systems aimed at enhancing lethality, mobility, and intelligence-gathering across the three armed services.
- Indian Army Procurements: Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) was granted for the Nag Missile System (Tracked) Mk-II (NAMIS), Ground Based Mobile ELINT System (GBMES), and High Mobility Vehicles (HMVs) with material handling cranes to enhance combat, intelligence, and logistics capabilities.
- NAMIS (Tracked): This missile system will bolster the Army’s ability to destroy enemy armoured vehicles, bunkers, and fortified positions effectively.
- GBMES: The system will provide continuous electronic intelligence on enemy emitters, improving situational awareness and operational readiness.
- HMVs: High Mobility Vehicles with cranes will significantly enhance logistical support in challenging terrains and operational environments.
