Government Approves Projects Under ECMS

On 27th October 2025, the Government of India approved the first batch of seven projects worth ₹5,532 crore under the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), marking a major step in strengthening India’s domestic electronics manufacturing ecosystem.
Key Points
- Scheme Objective: The ECMS aims to shift India from assembling finished products to manufacturing core components, materials, and machinery domestically, thereby enhancing supply chain resilience.
- Project Approvals: Seven projects were approved across Tamil Nadu (5 units), Andhra Pradesh (1 unit), and Madhya Pradesh (1 unit). These are expected to generate ₹36,559 crore in production and create over 5,100 direct jobs.
- Key Components to be Manufactured:
- Camera Modules: Used in smartphones, drones, laptops, medical devices, and automobiles.
- HDI and Multi-Layer PCBs: Integral circuit boards for electronics, automotive systems, and industrial machinery.
- Copper Clad Laminates (CCL): Base material for PCB manufacturing, to be produced in India for the first time.
- Polypropylene Films: Capacitor materials essential for consumer electronics, EVs, and telecommunications.
