India–EU Hold 11th Foreign Policy & Security Consultations

On 18–19 November 2025, India and the European Union held the 11th India–EU Foreign Policy and Security Consultations and the 6th Strategic Partnership Review Meeting in Brussels. Both sides reviewed the full spectrum of their bilateral engagement and assessed progress under the India–EU Strategic Partnership.
Key Points
- Strengthening Bilateral Momentum: The MEA highlighted strong engagement through the visit of the EU College of Commissioners (February 2025), the first India–EU Strategic Dialogue in Brussels (June 2025), and the EU’s Joint Communication on its Strategic Agenda on India (September 2025).
- Economic and Connectivity Cooperation: Discussions covered economic security, supply chain resilience, trade and investment, the Global Gateway initiative, the India–EU Connectivity Partnership, and the India–Middle East–Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC).
- Trade Agreements: Both sides reiterated their commitment to concluding negotiations on the India–EU Free Trade Agreement by the end of 2025 and accelerating talks on the Investment Protection Agreement and the Agreement on Geographical Indications.
- Technology & Innovation Dialogue: Progress under the India–EU Trade and Technology Council (TTC) was reviewed. Both sides look forward to the next ministerial meeting in Brussels in 2026.
- Multilateral Cooperation: India and the EU discussed collaboration in global forums and on humanitarian assistance and disaster resilience, including through the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI). The EU took note of India’s upcoming BRICS Chairship in 2026.
