Sujalam Bharat App Launched for Rural Water Governance
- 11 Dec 2025
On 10th December 2025, Union Jal Shakti Minister launched the Sujalam Bharat app, a national digital platform designed to enhance transparency, monitoring, and community participation in rural drinking water supply systems under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
- The Sujalam Bharat app, developed with technical support from BISAG-N, will provide real-time, scheme-level information on rural water supply infrastructure across all States and Union Territories.
- Minister stated that the platform marks a major milestone for the Jal Jeevan Mission by strengthening transparency, accountability, and community ownership of drinking water systems in rural India.
- BISAG-N Director General presented the app’s technological architecture, noting that it will support a structured, digital, and systematic approach to the operation and maintenance of rural water supply schemes.
- The launch also operationalises the Sujalam Bharat Database, which will assign each rural water supply scheme a unique Sujalam Bharat-Sujal Gaon ID to allow precise mapping of service areas and beneficiary households.
