BhashaDaan Workshop Boosts Language Preservation

On 16th December 2025, the Ministry of Minority Affairs hosted a BhashaDaan workshop under India’s National Language Technology Mission to promote the preservation of classical and endangered languages using digital tools.

The workshop was organised by the Ministry of Minority Affairs under the BhashaDaan initiative of BHASHINI, focusing on safeguarding India’s linguistic diversity in the digital era.
Experts, institutional stakeholders and community representatives participated in the discussions on using technology-driven solutions to document and revitalise classical and endangered languages.
Special attention was given to languages such as Pali, Prakrit, Avesta Pahlavi and the Gurmukhi script, highlighting the urgency of preserving them through structured digital efforts.
Participants emphasised the need to develop high-quality monolingual corpora and encouraged community-led data contributions to strengthen language resources.
