Eligibility Condition for Deep-Tech Startups Modified

On 4th January 2026, the Union Government removed the mandatory three-year existence requirement for deep-tech startups to avail recognition under the Industrial Research and Development Promotion (IRDP) Programme of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR).

• The decision reflects the Government’s trust in India’s innovators and confidence in their long-term sustainability and intent.
• The government has taken path-breaking reforms, including opening up the nuclear and space sectors to private participation.
