On 19th January 2026, Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan released the Hindi edition of eminent surgeon Dr. C. Palanivelu’s autobiography Palanivelu GUTS in New Delhi.

  • The Vice President described Dr. C. Palanivelu as a pioneer who recognised the potential of laparoscopic surgery in the early 1990s.
  • Dr. Palanivelu introduced laparoscopic surgery in Coimbatore in 1991, establishing South India’s first laparoscopic surgery centre.
  • The book was termed an inspiring account of courage, perseverance, and ethical innovation in the field of medicine.
