88th Meeting of Standing Committee of National Board for Wildlife

On 19th January 2026, Union Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Bhupender Yadav chaired the 88th meeting of the Standing Committee of the National Board for Wildlife in New Delhi.

The Standing Committee considered 70 proposals related to public utility services, defence needs and infrastructure development in and around Protected Areas, Wildlife Sanctuaries, Tiger Reserves and Eco-Sensitive Zones.
Of these, 17 proposals were defence-related, focusing on strategic infrastructure projects in border and high-altitude regions.
