5th Rüsoma Orange Festival Begins in Nagaland

On 30th January 2026, the 5th edition of the Rüsoma Orange Festival began at Rüsoma village, located about 10 km from Kohima.
- The two-day festival is being held under the theme “Abundance of Rüsoma”, with the objective of promoting village welfare, rural entrepreneurship, and recognising the contribution of local orange growers.
- The festival also aims to highlight and popularise the distinctive taste and quality of Rüsoma oranges.
- Events include cultural performances, traditional games, and stalls selling fast food, local cuisine, orange saplings and other local products.
- At present, 470 out of 570 households in Rüsoma village are engaged in orange cultivation, making it the primary livelihood activity.
- The village has set an ambitious target to expand orange orchards to 100 hectares over the next six to seven years
