‘CHAKRA’ Centre of Excellence to Finance Sunrise Sectors

On 31st January 2026, State Bank of India (SBI) announced the launch of CHAKRA – Centre of Excellence (CoE) to support financing of sunrise sectors critical to India’s economic development.

CHAKRA is envisioned as a knowledge-led, specialised platform that will strengthen SBI’s capability to assess and fund emerging industries.
The Centre will focus on next-generation, technology-driven and sustainability-oriented sectors, aligning with India’s long-term growth and innovation priorities.
Through sectoral expertise and structured insights, CHAKRA aims to de-risk lending, improve project appraisal, and enable informed financing decisions.
The initiative underscores SBI’s strategic push to support innovation, green growth and future-ready enterprises, reinforcing its role in nation-building and economic transformation.
