Yantra India Limited Granted Miniratna Category-I Status

On 2nd February 2026, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh approved Miniratna Category-I status for Yantra India Limited (YIL), marking a major milestone in its transformation into a profit-making defence PSU.
- YIL’s sales grew sharply from ₹956.32 crore (FY 2021-22 H2) to ₹3,108.79 crore (FY 2024-25), while exports rose from zero to ₹321.77 crore over the same period.
- The company’s product portfolio includes carbon fibre composites, ammunition assemblies, armoured vehicles, artillery guns, main battle tanks, glass composites and aluminium alloys.
- With Miniratna Category-I status, YIL’s Board can now approve capital expenditure up to ₹500 crore for projects, modernisation and equipment procurement without prior government approval.
- YIL was formed on October 1, 2021, after the corporatisation of the Ordnance Factory Board into 7 defence DPSUs, and is a Schedule ‘A’ DPSU under the Department of Defence Production.
