UIDAI Bug Bounty Programme for Aadhaar Security

On 11th March 2026, UIDAI launched its first structured Bug Bounty Programme for Aadhaar security.
- The initiative aims to strengthen cybersecurity of Aadhaar’s digital platforms.
- Cybersecurity experts are invited to identify vulnerabilities in UIDAI systems.
- A panel of 20 ethical hackers and security researchers has been selected.
- They will examine platforms such as the UIDAI website and myAadhaar portal.
- The Secure QR Code application will also be tested for security vulnerabilities.
- Identified vulnerabilities will be categorised as Critical, High, Medium or Low risk.
- Researchers will receive rewards based on the severity of discovered issues.
- The initiative promotes responsible reporting of cybersecurity weaknesses.
- The programme aims to identify security gaps before malicious exploitation.
- It is implemented with support from ComOlho IT Private Limited.
- UIDAI already conducts regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
- Penetration testing and continuous monitoring are also part of its security framework.
- The bug bounty programme adds an additional security layer for Aadhaar systems.
