GAIL Signs Deal for 600 MW Solar Project

On 16th April 2026, GAIL (India) Limited signed agreements with TUSCO Limited to set up a 600 MW solar power project in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh.
- The project will include a 550 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) to enhance reliability and efficiency.
- Solar power generated will primarily meet the captive energy needs of GAIL’s petrochemical plant in Pata, Auraiya.
- It will also support additional demand from electrification of gas-based systems and compressed biogas (CBG) plants.
- The initiative reflects GAIL’s strategy to expand its renewable energy portfolio and adopt low-carbon solutions.
- The project is expected to improve power stability and support sustainable industrial energy needs.
- It aligns with India’s broader transition towards clean and green energy sources.
- GAIL (India) Limited is India’s largest natural gas transmission and marketing company, playing a key role in the country’s energy infrastructure and clean energy transition.
