Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan

On 10th May 2026, Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan was appointed as the next Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief (FOC-in-C) of the Western Naval Command headquartered in Mumbai.
- He will lead one of the Indian Navy’s most strategically significant commands, responsible for securing India’s western maritime front and major sea lanes in the Arabian Sea.
- Currently, Vice Admiral Vatsayan is serving as the Vice Chief of Naval Staff.
- A specialist in Gunnery and Missile Systems, he was commissioned into the Indian Navy in 1988.
- He has also held key policy and planning assignments at Naval Headquarters and the Integrated Defence Staff.
- In 2021, he was awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal for distinguished service.
