Centre Announces Major Rural Development Package

On 15th May 2026, the Centre announced a major rural development package for Maharashtra during the Griha Pravesh ceremony of five lakh completed rural houses in Satara.
- The Centre approved ₹8,368.50 crore as central assistance for Maharashtra under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - Gramin (PMAY-G) for the financial year 2026-27.
- 35 rural road projects worth ₹122.98 crore were also approved under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana-IV (PMGSY-IV).
- The projects, spanning nearly 96 kilometres, are expected to improve connectivity for 35 rural habitations across Maharashtra.
- The Centre also announced relief measures for onion farmers, stating that National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd. (NAFED) would begin onion procurement at ₹12.35 per kilogram.
