On 19th May 2026, former Uttarakhand Chief Minister B. C. Khanduri passed away in Dehradun at the age of 91 due to age-related ailments.

  • A retired Major General of the Indian Army, Khanduri was known for his disciplined public life, administrative rigour and reputation for integrity.
  • Born in 1934 in Dehradun, he entered politics in the early 1990s after retiring from military service and represented the Garhwal constituency in Parliament.
  • Khanduri served as Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways in the government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
  • He also served twice as Chief Minister of Uttarakhand and was known for his anti-corruption measures, transparency initiatives and strict administrative style.m
