B.C. Khanduri

On 19th May 2026, former Uttarakhand Chief Minister B. C. Khanduri passed away in Dehradun at the age of 91 due to age-related ailments.

A retired Major General of the Indian Army, Khanduri was known for his disciplined public life, administrative rigour and reputation for integrity.
Born in 1934 in Dehradun, he entered politics in the early 1990s after retiring from military service and represented the Garhwal constituency in Parliament.
Khanduri served as Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways in the government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
He also served twice as Chief Minister of Uttarakhand and was known for his anti-corruption measures, transparency initiatives and strict administrative style.m
