Government Releases Draft Rules for VB-G RAM G Act

On 22nd May 2026, the Government of India released draft rules for the Viksit Bharat–Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, 2025, for public consultation. The new Act will replace Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, 2005, (MGNREGA) from July 1 with an expanded rural employment framework.

  • Higher Employment Guarantee: The annual employment guarantee has been increased from 100 days to 125 days.
  • Transition Arrangement: Existing e-KYC verified MGNREGA job cards will remain temporarily valid until new Gramin Rozgar Guarantee Cards are issued.
  • Fund Allocation: The Centre will determine state-wise normative fund allocations using objective parameters.
  • Institutional Framework: A Central Gramin Rozgar Guarantee Council and a National Level Steering Committee will oversee implementation and monitoring.
  • Grievance Redressal: States will establish technology-enabled, time-bound grievance redressal systems from gram panchayat to state level.
  • Direct Benefit Transfer: Wage payments and unemployment allowances will continue through direct benefit transfer mechanisms.
