Syama Prasad Mookerjee

Syama Prasad Mookerjee is remembered as a patriot, scholar, educationist, statesman, and nationalist leader who made significant contributions to India's political and intellectual life.
Mookerjee became the youngest Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calcutta, serving from 1934 to 1938, and worked to expand higher education opportunities.
After Independence, he joined the Cabinet of Jawaharlal Nehru as India’s first Minister for Industry and Supply (1947-1950).
