On 25th June 2026, the Jammu and Kashmir Police launched ‘Project Hawk Eye’ to strengthen surveillance and security arrangements for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026.
- The initiative has been implemented by the Anantnag Police as a technology-driven, multi-layered security framework covering the entire pilgrimage route.
- Project Hawk Eye integrates aerial surveillance, facial recognition technology, sniper deployment, and an extensive CCTV network to provide round-the-clock monitoring.
- The drone network enables rapid assessment of emerging situations and facilitates quick response by ground security personnel.
- A total of 28 Machan Morchas (vantage observation posts) have been established at vulnerable and sensitive locations along the Yatra route.
