NABARD Facilitates GI Registration of 28 New Products

On 10th July 2026, the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) announced that it had facilitated the Geographical Indication (GI) registration of 28 new traditional products across India.
- With these additions, NABARD has supported a total of 176 products in obtaining GI registration.
- The newly registered products include traditional handicrafts, handloom textiles, bamboo crafts, metal crafts, pottery, paintings, and musical instruments.
- Notable products include Nalanda Bawanbuti Saree and Fabrics and Gaya Pattharkatti Stone Craft (Bihar), Kuchai Silk Saree and Fabrics (Jharkhand), Ba Shilp (Bamboo Craft) and Bihu Pepa (Assam), Himachal Wood Carving Craft, and Khajuraho Metal Craft (Madhya Pradesh).
- NABARD's GI initiatives have connected more than 13,000 artisans and producers to higher-value domestic markets and generated over 50,000 direct employment opportunities.
