Unauthorised Analogue Paneer, Cheese and Butter Banned

Recently, the Gujarat Government imposed a statewide ban on the manufacture, storage, transportation, distribution and sale of unauthorised analogue paneer, cheese and butter to safeguard public health and prevent consumers from being misled by non-dairy products.

• The decision was taken after the Food and Drugs Control Administration found products resembling paneer being manufactured using vegetable oils and other non-dairy ingredients instead of milk.
• The government stated that such products mislead consumers, adversely affect genuine dairy producers and raise concerns regarding food safety.
