Chennai Climate-Resilient Water Security & Sewerage Project

On 21st August 2026, India and the Asian Development Bank signed a $230 million loan agreement to modernise Chennai’s water supply and sanitation infrastructure.

The project aims to improve access to reliable water supply and sanitation services in Chennai.
It will strengthen the city’s resilience to climate change and water-related challenges.
The funding will support the modernisation and expansion of water supply and sewerage networks.
The project is supported through financing from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
It seeks to promote climate-resilient and sustainable urban water management in Chennai.
