On 26th August 2026, a massive flash flood struck central Nepal near the Nepal–Tibet border.
- The disaster killed nearly 160 people, while more than 750 people remained missing, including 133 Indian nationals.
- The flash flood originated near the Nepal–Tibet border and caused widespread destruction along the Trishuli River.
- A reported earthquake in Tibet was followed by flash floods within minutes, suggesting a possible glacial outburst.
- The flood entered the Trishuli River through the Bhote Koshi at Timure in Rasuwa district.
- A rockslide and swelling of the Lhende River contributed to the flooding along the border.
