R. Praggnanandhaa Wins Grand Chess Tour

On 27th August 2026, Indian Grandmaster R. Praggnanandhaa became the first Indian to win the Grand Chess Tour.

He defeated defending champion Fabiano Caruana 15–13 in the final at St. Louis, USA.
He won both rapid games to take the lead in the final.
He then held his advantage through four blitz games to secure the title.
He won the US$200,000 first prize.
The victory also secured him a guaranteed spot in the 2027 Grand Chess Tour.
Earlier, he lost the first classical game to Caruana 6–0.
