R. Praggnanandhaa Wins Grand Chess Tour

On 27th August 2026, Indian Grandmaster R. Praggnanandhaa became the first Indian to win the Grand Chess Tour.

  • He defeated defending champion Fabiano Caruana 15–13 in the final at St. Louis, USA.
  • He won both rapid games to take the lead in the final.
  • He then held his advantage through four blitz games to secure the title.
  • He won the US$200,000 first prize.
  • The victory also secured him a guaranteed spot in the 2027 Grand Chess Tour.
  • Earlier, he lost the first classical game to Caruana 6–0.
