India-Uzbekistan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership

On 30th August 2026, India and Uzbekistan elevated bilateral ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during PM Modi’s visit to Tashkent.

Key Points

Uranium Supply: India and Uzbekistan agreed to establish a long-term framework for uranium supply.
Trade Target: Both sides set a target of US$5 billion annual bilateral trade by 2030.
Economic Cooperation: Cooperation will expand across critical minerals, mining, infrastructure, agriculture and pharmaceuticals.
Digital Cooperation: Both sides will deepen cooperation in UPI and Digital Public Infrastructure.
Defence & Security: India and Uzbekistan agreed to strengthen cooperation in defence and security.
Institutional Mechanisms: A Foreign Ministers-level Coordination Council will guide bilateral cooperation.
Joint Commission: The existing Joint Commission will be elevated from Secretary-level to Ministerial-level.
Buddhist Heritage: India will support restoration of Fayaz Tepa and Kara Tepa Buddhist sites in Uzbekistan.
