PM Vishwakarma Scheme Completes 3 Years; 30 Lakh Beneficiaries Registered

On September 17, 2026, an event was organized at the Dhono Dhanya Auditorium in Kolkata to mark the completion of three years of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme. Around 30 lakh beneficiaries have registered under the scheme so far.
Key Highlights
- Launch: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the PM Vishwakarma Scheme on September 17, 2023, to provide comprehensive support to traditional artisans and craftspeople. It covers 18 traditional trades.
- Skill Training: Out of the 30 lakh registered beneficiaries, basic skill training has been imparted to nearly 24.50 lakh Vishwakarmas.
- Modern Toolkits: Over 18.15 lakh modern toolkits have been delivered to beneficiaries via India Post.
- Credit Support: Concessional loans of up to Rs. 1 lakh at a 5% annual interest rate—totalling Rs. 5,297 crore—have been disbursed to approximately 6.18 lakh Vishwakarmas.
- Objective: The scheme provides artisans with recognition, skill upgrading, modern toolkit delivery, institutional credit, digital transaction incentives, and market linkages.
