'Swachhata Hi Seva 2026' Campaign

On September 17, 2026, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (Ministry of Jal Shakti) jointly launched the 'Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2026' campaign in New Delhi. The campaign runs from September 17 to October 2, 2026.

Key Highlights

Theme: The theme for this year is "Swachhata Mein Sahbhag; Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat", underlining cleanliness as a shared responsibility between government and society.
Joint Launch: The campaign commenced with a joint tree-planting drive under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' initiative at Children's Park, India Gate, New Delhi.
Five Core Pillars: The primary pillars include the transformation of targeted cleanliness units/public places, Swachh Pathshala, Safaimitra Suraksha and Samman camps, public participation, and Swachhata se Samriddhi (Prosperity through Cleanliness).
Waste Segregation: Special focus is placed on raising awareness about the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026, and the source segregation of waste into four categories. These rules came into effect on April 1, 2026.
