CSIR Launches Science Magazines in Five Indian Languages

On September 26, 2026, on the occasion of the 85th Foundation Day of CSIR, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology Dr. Jitendra Singh launched new popular science magazines in five Indian languages.
Key Facts
- Five Languages: The magazines have been published by the CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (CSIR-NIScPR) in Assamese, Bengali, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu.
- Magazine Names: The launched magazines are 'Bigyan Lahar' in Assamese, 'Bigyan Brittanto' in Bengali, 'Vigyan Kshitij' in Marathi, 'Ariviyal Arakkaiyalar' in Tamil, and 'Vigyan Velugu' in Telugu.
- Use of AI: Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be used to translate selected content from existing science magazines, which will subsequently be reviewed, fact-checked, and edited by experts.
- Science Communication: The new magazines will bring scientific information alongside the scientific achievements and innovations of the respective regions to readers in their regional languages.
