ASI 2024–25: Manufacturing Output Grows by 7.81%

On September 30, 2026, the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) released the Annual Survey of Industries (ASI) 2024–25. According to the survey, industrial output in the registered manufacturing sector grew by 7.81%.
Key Facts
- Gross Value Added: GVA in the manufacturing sector grew by 9.59% to Rs. 26.94 lakh crore. Maharashtra held the largest share in GVA, followed by Gujarat and Tamil Nadu.
- Employment Growth: The number of people employed in this sector rose from 1.96 crore to approximately 2.10 crore, reflecting a 7.19% increase. Total remuneration also saw a 12.08% rise.
- Number of Establishments: Registered manufacturing establishments increased from 2.60 lakh to 2.67 lakh. Tamil Nadu had the highest number of establishments (41,221), followed by Gujarat and Maharashtra.
- Key Industries: Five industries—Basic Metals, Motor Vehicles, Chemicals & Chemical Products, Pharmaceuticals, and Food Products—contributed over 45% to the country's total manufacturing GVA.
- Capital Investment: Fixed capital grew by 10.54%, while invested capital recorded an 11.10% increase.
