Inauguration of New Facilities of ICAR-IIAB in Ranchi

On October 8, 2026, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan inaugurated several new facilities at the ICAR-Indian Institute of Agricultural Biotechnology (ICAR-IIAB) in Ranchi via video conferencing.
Key Points
- Inauguration of New Facilities: The inaugurated facilities include an Admin-cum-School building, Birsa Munda Multipurpose Auditorium, Jaipal Singh Munda Sports Complex, and NEXTGEN Breeding Facility, along with laying the foundation stone for a new guest house costing Rs. 119 crore.
- Pre-Rabi Farmer Meet: ICAR-IIAB organized a Pre-Rabi Farmer Meet-cum-Agricultural Input Distribution Program under SCSP and TSP, attended by nearly 1,500 farmers from Ranchi, Khunti, Gumla, and Ramgarh districts.
- Input Distribution to Farmers: Farmers were distributed Nano Urea, Nano DAP, mineral mixtures, improved seeds, seed kits for wheat, peas, mustard, and vegetables, milk can coolers, as well as high-productivity tomato and brinjal varieties.
- Minister's Call: Mr. Chouhan praised the efforts of scientists to bring technologies "from lab to land" and called for launching a nationwide "Save the Farm Campaign" (Khet Bachao Abhiyan) in the coming days.
