BRICS Traditional & Indigenous Sports Exhibition to be Held in Ahmedabad

Under India's BRICS Chairmanship, the BRICS Traditional and Indigenous Sports Exhibition 2026 will be organized at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex in Ahmedabad on October 12, 2026. The event will be inaugurated by the Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya.
Key Highlights
- Organization & Inauguration: The event is being organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and the Government of Gujarat.
- Objective: By bringing together delegations from BRICS member and partner nations, the event aims to showcase traditional and indigenous sports disciplines, promote cultural exchange, preserve heritage, and foster people-to-people cooperation through sports.
- Format: It is a non-competitive platform focused on the demonstration, documentation, and exchange of traditional sports practices.
- Participating Countries & Sports: 11 countries—including Belarus, Bolivia, Brazil, China, Ethiopia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates—will demonstrate their traditional sports.
- Indian Sports: India will demonstrate Mallakhamba, Yogasana, and Kalaripayattu.
