ECI to Deliver Voter ID Cards Faster

On 18th June 2025, the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced a new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to ensure Elector Photo Identity Cards (EPICs) are delivered within 15 days of enrolment or voter detail updates, enhancing efficiency and citizen service.

The new SOP aims to deliver EPICs within 15 days from the date of any change in the electoral roll, including both new voter registrations and modifications to existing voter details.
This initiative reflects the Commission’s commitment to providing faster, transparent, and citizen-centric services to the electorate in a digitally integrated and time-bound manner.
Under the new protocol, every stage of the EPIC processing—from its generation by the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) to its delivery by the Department of Posts (DoP)—will be monitored in real time to ensure accountability and seed.
Voters will receive timely SMS notifications at each step of the process, keeping them informed about the progress and expected delivery of their updated or new voter ID cards.
